  • The recommended operating voltage range for the UC3842ADW is 12V to 28V, with a maximum rating of 30V.

  • The oscillator circuit requires two resistors, R1 and R2. A good starting point is to use R1 = 1kΩ and R2 = 2kΩ. Adjust these values to achieve the desired oscillator frequency.

  • The soft-start pin (SS) is used to gradually ramp up the output voltage during startup, reducing inrush currents. Connect a capacitor (typically 10nF to 100nF) from the SS pin to ground to set the soft-start time.

  • To ensure stability, use a compensation network consisting of a resistor (R) and a capacitor (C) in series, connected between the output of the error amplifier and the inverting input. A good starting point is R = 1kΩ and C = 10nF.

  • The UC3842ADW can sink up to 1A of output current, making it suitable for a wide range of switching power supply applications.
