TE Connectivity recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the device, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended.
To ensure reliability, it's essential to follow the recommended derating guidelines for the device. Reduce the maximum junction temperature (Tj) by 1°C for every 1W of power dissipation above 1W. Also, ensure good thermal management and avoid thermal hotspots.
The RTD34012F can withstand voltage transients up to 50V for a duration of 100ms, as per the datasheet. However, it's recommended to use a TVS diode or a voltage clamp to protect the device from voltage spikes and transients.
While the RTD34012F is not hermetically sealed, it can still be used in humid environments. However, it's essential to follow proper conformal coating and sealing procedures to prevent moisture ingress. Consult TE Connectivity's application notes for more information.
TE Connectivity recommends a soldering profile with a peak temperature of 260°C (500°F) for a maximum of 10 seconds. The device should be soldered using a no-clean or water-soluble flux, and the soldering iron should be set to a temperature of 350°C (662°F).
