Renesas provides a recommended PCB layout in the ISL28213FBZ evaluation board user manual, which includes guidelines for component placement, routing, and thermal management to ensure optimal performance and minimize noise.
The ISL28213FBZ has a thermal pad that must be connected to a thermal plane on the PCB to dissipate heat. A thermal interface material (TIM) can be used to improve heat transfer between the device and the thermal plane. Additionally, ensure good airflow around the device and avoid blocking the airflow with nearby components.
The recommended input capacitor value is 10uF to 22uF, with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a voltage rating of at least 25V. X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors are suitable for this application.
To ensure stability, follow the recommended PCB layout, use a low-ESR input capacitor, and ensure that the output capacitor is properly sized and placed. Additionally, avoid using long traces and minimize the distance between the device and the output capacitor. If oscillations occur, try adding a small resistor (e.g., 1Ω) in series with the output capacitor.
The maximum allowed voltage on the EN (Enable) pin is 6V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device. If a higher voltage is required, use a voltage divider or a level shifter to ensure the EN pin voltage remains within the specified range.
