STMicroelectronics recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and a separate power plane for the high-voltage section. The layout should also ensure minimal parasitic inductance and capacitance.

To ensure reliable start-up, ensure that the input voltage is within the recommended range, and the input capacitor is properly sized. Also, add a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during start-up.
