STMicroelectronics recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and a separate layer for the high-voltage traces to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI).
To ensure reliable start-up, ensure that the input voltage (VIN) is within the recommended range, and the output capacitor (COUT) is properly sized to handle the inrush current. Also, add a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current.
The maximum allowed voltage on the VIN pin is 30V, but it's recommended to keep it below 28V to ensure reliable operation and to prevent damage to the device.
Choose an output capacitor with a voltage rating of at least 1.5 times the output voltage, and a capacitance value that ensures the output voltage ripple is within the desired range. A general rule of thumb is to use a capacitor with a capacitance value of 10-22uF.
The EN pin is used to enable or disable the device. When the EN pin is pulled low, the device is in shutdown mode, and when it's pulled high, the device is enabled and operates normally.
