STMicroelectronics recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended, and the thermal pad should be connected to a ground plane to reduce thermal resistance.
To ensure reliable operation at high temperatures, it's essential to follow the recommended operating conditions, including the maximum junction temperature (Tj) of 150°C. Additionally, consider using a heat sink, thermal interface material, and ensuring good airflow around the device.
STMicroelectronics recommends using a low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value between 1uF to 10uF, depending on the specific application and input voltage. A 2.2uF or 4.7uF capacitor is a good starting point for most designs.
To minimize EMI, follow proper PCB layout practices, such as keeping the input and output traces separate, using a ground plane, and placing the TS972IYPT close to the input capacitors. Additionally, consider using EMI filters or shielding to reduce radiation.
