A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias under the device is recommended. This helps to dissipate heat efficiently and reduce thermal resistance.
Ensure that the input voltage rises monotonically during start-up, and falls monotonically during shutdown. Also, add a soft-start capacitor to limit the inrush current and prevent voltage overshoot.
The maximum allowed output capacitance is 100uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillations in the output voltage.
Implement overcurrent protection using a sense resistor and a comparator. Also, monitor the device temperature using a thermistor or a thermal sensor, and shut down the device if it exceeds the maximum allowed temperature.
Use a pi-filter configuration with a series inductor, a shunt capacitor, and a common-mode choke to reduce EMI emissions and improve conducted emissions.
