Texas Instruments recommends a compact layout with the TL2842DR placed close to the power source, and the input and output capacitors placed as close as possible to the device. A star-ground configuration is also recommended to minimize noise and EMI.
To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF, and ensure that the output capacitor's ESR is less than 1 ohm. Additionally, use a compensation capacitor (Cc) between 10pF to 100pF to prevent oscillations. The datasheet provides a detailed compensation network design guide.
The TL2842DR can handle a maximum input voltage of 18V, but it's recommended to operate within the specified input voltage range of 7V to 15V for optimal performance and reliability.
The output voltage (Vout) of the TL2842DR can be calculated using the formula: Vout = (1 + R1/R2) * Vref, where R1 and R2 are the feedback resistors, and Vref is the internal reference voltage (2.5V).
The EN (enable) pin is used to enable or disable the regulator. When the EN pin is pulled high (above 2.5V), the regulator is enabled, and when it's pulled low (below 0.8V), the regulator is disabled. This pin can be used to implement power sequencing or to reduce power consumption in standby mode.
