The maximum switching frequency of the SG3524NE4 is 500 kHz, but it's recommended to operate at a frequency below 400 kHz for reliable operation and to minimize EMI.
The output voltage of the SG3524NE4 is set by the voltage divider network connected to the feedback pin (pin 5). The ratio of the resistors in the divider network determines the output voltage. A common configuration is to use a 2.2 kΩ resistor from the output to the feedback pin, and a 1 kΩ resistor from the feedback pin to ground, which sets the output voltage to approximately 15 V.
The soft-start pin (pin 9) is used to slowly ramp up the output voltage of the converter during startup, reducing inrush current and preventing voltage overshoots. A capacitor connected from the soft-start pin to ground determines the soft-start time constant.
The SG3524NE4 has a built-in overcurrent protection feature that can be enabled by connecting a resistor from the current sense pin (pin 8) to ground. Additionally, an external current sense resistor can be used to monitor the output current and shut down the converter in case of an overcurrent condition.
The minimum input voltage required for the SG3524NE4 to operate is 8.5 V, but it's recommended to operate with an input voltage above 10 V for reliable operation and to ensure that the internal voltage regulator can provide a stable 5 V supply to the internal circuitry.
