TI recommends a 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer, and a thermal relief pattern on the top layer to improve heat dissipation.
Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during start-up, and implement a shutdown circuit to discharge the output capacitors during power-down.
