  • The recommended power-up sequence is to apply VCC first, followed by VCCO, and then the digital power supplies (VCCIO and VCCOE). This ensures that the internal voltage regulators are powered up correctly.

  • To optimize the PCB layout, keep the analog and digital power supplies separate, use a solid ground plane, and keep the clock signal traces short and shielded. Also, place the decoupling capacitors close to the device pins and use a low-ESR capacitor for the VCCO pin.

  • The maximum clock frequency supported by the PCM1798 is 256 fs (fs = sample frequency). However, the actual clock frequency may be limited by the system design and the quality of the clock signal.

  • To configure the PCM1798 for Master Clock mode, set the MCLK pin to the desired clock frequency, and set the M/S pin to logic high. Also, ensure that the BCK pin is tied to the system clock or a stable clock source.

  • The recommended termination for the differential output of the PCM1798 is a 100-ohm differential load, with a 100-nF capacitor in series with each output pin to filter out high-frequency noise.
