  • A 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. The device should be placed near a thermal pad or heat sink to dissipate heat efficiently.

  • Ensure that the input voltage rises and falls monotonically, and add a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during start-up. Also, add a voltage supervisor to ensure the converter is fully enabled before applying the input voltage.

  • The maximum allowed input voltage ripple is 10% of the nominal input voltage. Exceeding this limit may cause instability or oscillations in the converter.

  • Use a combination of capacitors with different ESR values to filter out high-frequency noise and ripple. A minimum of 2x 10uF ceramic capacitors and 1x 100uF electrolytic capacitor is recommended.

  • A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended. The capacitor should be placed close to the input pins to minimize inductance and noise.
