A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power paths.
Monitor the device's junction temperature, input voltage, and output current to ensure they are within the specified limits. Use thermal design and layout techniques to minimize thermal resistance.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor (e.g., X5R or X7R) with a value of 4.7 μF to 10 μF is recommended. The capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin.
Choose an output capacitor with low ESR and high ripple current rating. A ceramic capacitor (e.g., X5R or X7R) with a value of 10 μF to 22 μF is recommended. Consider the output voltage, output current, and ripple requirements when selecting the capacitor.
Use a thermal pad on the PCB to connect to the IC's exposed pad. Ensure good thermal conduction by using a thermal interface material (e.g., thermal tape or thermal grease) between the IC and the heat sink or PCB.
