  • For optimal thermal performance, it is recommended to use a 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane on the bottom layer. The MIC284-3YM should be placed near a thermal pad or a heat sink to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 10 vias should be used to connect the thermal pad to the ground plane.

  • To ensure stable output voltage regulation, it is recommended to use a minimum output capacitance of 10uF with an ESR of 1ohm or less. Additionally, the input capacitance should be at least 10uF with an ESR of 1ohm or less. The output voltage should also be decoupled with a 10nF ceramic capacitor.

  • The maximum input voltage that can be applied to the MIC284-3YM is 28V. However, it is recommended to operate the device within the specified input voltage range of 4.5V to 24V for optimal performance and reliability.

  • The MIC284-3YM has a built-in overcurrent protection (OCP) feature that limits the output current to 2.5A. However, it is recommended to add an external current sense resistor and a fuse to protect the device from overcurrent conditions. The current sense resistor should be connected between the VIN pin and the input capacitor.

  • The recommended input voltage range for the enable pin is 2.5V to 5.5V. The enable pin should be driven with a logic signal that is compatible with the input voltage range. A pull-up resistor of 10kohm or higher is recommended to ensure proper operation.
