The maximum power supply voltage is 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device.
To ensure stability, add a capacitor (typically 10-100pF) between the output and the inverting input. This helps to compensate for the op-amp's internal capacitance and prevents oscillations.
Keep the input and output traces short and away from noise sources. Use a ground plane and decouple the power supply with a 10uF capacitor. Route the inverting and non-inverting input traces symmetrically to minimize common-mode noise.
While the MCP6231UT-E/OTVAO can be used as a comparator, it's not the most suitable device for this application. The op-amp's output stage is designed for linear operation, and its response time may be slower than a dedicated comparator. Consider using a dedicated comparator like the MCP6541 for comparator applications.
