  • The recommended power-up sequence is to apply VDD first, followed by VSS, and then the logic inputs (CS, SCK, and SI). This ensures proper device operation and prevents potential latch-up conditions.

  • To ensure reliable communication, make sure to use a clock frequency within the specified range (fSCK = 10 kHz to 1 MHz), maintain a minimum clock high time (tCH = 100 ns), and keep the CS pin low during data transmission.

  • The maximum voltage that can be applied to the RH and RL pins is VDD + 0.3V, but it should not exceed 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage may damage the device.

  • The resistance value can be calculated using the formula: R = (RAB × (256 - Wiper Position)) / 256, where RAB is the end-to-end resistance (10 kΩ for the MCP4261T-103E/ST) and Wiper Position is the desired wiper position (0 to 255).

  • The WP pin is used to write-protect the wiper position. When WP is low, the wiper position can be changed. When WP is high, the wiper position is locked and cannot be changed. To use WP, tie it to VDD or VSS depending on the desired write-protection state.
