The maximum sampling rate of the MCP3208 is 100,000 samples per second (100 ksps) for a single channel, and 50,000 samples per second (50 ksps) for multiple channels.
To configure the MCP3208 for differential mode, connect the positive input to the IN+ pin and the negative input to the IN- pin. For pseudo-differential mode, connect the input signal to the IN+ pin and the reference voltage to the IN- pin.
The VREF pin is used to provide an external reference voltage to the ADC. This allows the user to set the full-scale range of the ADC to a specific voltage level.
The MCP3208 outputs a 12-bit digital result, which can be read through the SPI interface. The result is in binary format, with the most significant bit (MSB) first. The result can be converted to a voltage value using the formula: Vout = (VREF x Digital Result) / 4096.
The power consumption of the MCP3208 depends on the operating mode and clock frequency. In normal mode, the typical current consumption is 350 μA at 5 V and 200 μA at 3.3 V. In shutdown mode, the typical current consumption is 10 μA.
