Texas Instruments recommends a compact layout with the IC placed close to the battery, using a solid ground plane, and keeping the input and output traces separate to minimize noise and EMI. Additionally, a 10uF capacitor between VCC and GND, and a 1uF capacitor between VIN and GND are recommended for noise filtering.

Ensure proper heat sinking and follow the recommended thermal design guidelines to prevent overheating and ensure reliable operation.
The output voltage of the MC3486NSR can be calculated using the formula: VOUT = (VIN x (1 + R2/R1)) / (1 + (R2/R1) x (R3/R4)), where R1, R2, R3, and R4 are the resistors in the feedback network. Refer to the datasheet for the recommended resistor values and calculation examples.
