The MAX3222EAP+ is a high-speed device, so it's essential to follow good layout practices to minimize noise and ensure signal integrity. Place the device close to the connector, use short traces, and avoid vias. Keep the analog and digital grounds separate and connect them at a single point. Use a solid ground plane and decouple the power supply with a 0.1uF capacitor.
The SHDN pin is an active-low input that puts the device into a low-power shutdown mode when driven low. Connect the SHDN pin to a logic output or a pull-up resistor to ensure it's not floating.
