A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias connecting the exposed pad to the ground plane is recommended for optimal thermal performance.
Monitor the device's junction temperature, input voltage, and output current to ensure they are within the specified limits. Also, ensure the device is properly heatsinked and the PCB is designed for optimal thermal performance.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended for the input capacitor. The capacitor should be placed as close to the VIN pin as possible.
Use a combination of capacitors and inductors to filter the output voltage. The output filter should be designed to attenuate the switching frequency and its harmonics. A 2-stage LC filter with a cutoff frequency of around 1/10 of the switching frequency is recommended.
Keep the high-current paths (VIN to VOUT) as short and wide as possible. Use thick copper traces (at least 2 oz) and avoid vias and narrow traces in these paths. Also, ensure the PCB is designed to handle the high currents and minimize voltage drops.
