A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. The top layer should have a wide copper pour connected to the GND pin, and the bottom layer should have a solid ground plane. This layout helps to dissipate heat efficiently.
Use a combination of capacitors and inductors to filter the output. A 10uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with a 1uH inductor is a good starting point. Adjust the values based on the specific application requirements and desired ripple and noise levels.
The maximum ambient temperature for reliable operation is 85°C. However, the device can operate up to 125°C with derating. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and thermal management guidelines.
Use a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current during start-up. A simple RC circuit with a 1kΩ resistor and a 10uF capacitor can be used. For shutdown, use a controlled ramp-down of the input voltage to prevent voltage spikes and ensure a clean shutdown.
Use low-ESR capacitors with a minimum capacitance of 10uF for the input and output. X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors are recommended. Avoid using electrolytic capacitors as they can cause oscillations and reduce the overall performance.
