A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and thermal vias is recommended. The top layer should have a wide copper pour connected to the GND pin, and the bottom layer should have a solid ground plane. This layout helps to dissipate heat efficiently.
To ensure reliable start-up, make sure the input voltage rises monotonically and the input capacitor is properly sized. A soft-start circuit can also be added to limit the inrush current and prevent voltage dips during start-up.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended. The capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin and have a low inductance path to the GND pin.
The compensation network should be optimized for the specific application. A good starting point is to use the values recommended in the datasheet. Then, adjust the values based on the output voltage, output current, and desired transient response.
The maximum ambient temperature for the LTM4600IV#PBF is 85°C. However, the device can operate at higher temperatures with derating. Consult the datasheet for the thermal derating curve.
