A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power paths. Avoid routing sensitive analog signals near the power paths.
Choose X5R or X7R ceramic capacitors with a voltage rating of at least 2x the maximum input voltage. For the output capacitor, choose a capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a voltage rating of at least 2x the maximum output voltage.
