The maximum input voltage that can be applied to the LTC4079EDD is 28V, but it's recommended to keep it below 24V for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the device.
To ensure the LTC4079EDD is operating within its thermal limits, you should provide adequate heat sinking, keep the device away from high-temperature sources, and monitor the junction temperature (TJ) to ensure it stays below 125°C.
For optimal performance, it's recommended to follow a star-grounding layout, keep the input and output capacitors close to the device, and use short, wide traces for the power paths. Avoid routing sensitive analog signals near the switching node.
When selecting an inductor for the LTC4079EDD, consider the inductor's saturation current, DC resistance, and core material. A good starting point is to choose an inductor with a saturation current rating of at least 1.5 times the maximum output current, and a DC resistance of less than 100mΩ.
The SYNC pin on the LTC4079EDD allows the device to synchronize its switching frequency with an external clock signal, which can be useful in noise-sensitive applications or when multiple devices need to be synchronized.
