The maximum input voltage that can be applied to the VIN pin is 18V, but it's recommended to keep it below 15V for optimal performance and reliability.
To optimize the inductor selection, consider the inductor's saturation current, DC resistance, and core material. A good starting point is to choose an inductor with a saturation current rating above the peak current of the converter, and a DC resistance that minimizes losses.
For optimal performance, keep the power components (inductor, capacitors, and IC) close together, and use a solid ground plane to reduce noise and EMI. Keep the feedback network (FB, VOUT, and GND) away from the power components and use a separate analog ground plane.
The output voltage can be adjusted by changing the resistor divider ratio (R1 and R2) connected to the FB pin. Use the formula: VOUT = 0.8V x (1 + R2/R1) to calculate the desired output voltage.
The maximum output current capability of the LTC3115 is 2A, but it's recommended to derate the output current based on the input voltage, output voltage, and ambient temperature to ensure reliable operation.
