A good PCB layout for the L9780TR involves keeping the input and output capacitors close to the IC, using a solid ground plane, and minimizing the length of the traces to reduce EMI. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated power plane and a solid ground plane is recommended.
To ensure stability, make sure to follow the recommended component values and PCB layout guidelines. Also, ensure that the input and output capacitors are of high quality and have low ESR. Additionally, a minimum of 10uF capacitance is recommended on the output.
The L9780TR can handle a maximum input voltage of 28V, but it's recommended to keep the input voltage below 24V to ensure reliable operation and to prevent overheating.
The L9780TR is rated for operation up to 150°C, but it's recommended to derate the output current and input voltage at high temperatures to ensure reliable operation. A thermal analysis should be performed to ensure the IC doesn't exceed its maximum junction temperature.
To protect the L9780TR from input voltage surges and spikes, use a TVS diode or a transient voltage suppressor in parallel with the input capacitor. This will help to clamp the input voltage and prevent damage to the IC.
