A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the switching components close to the IC, and use short, wide traces for the power lines. Avoid routing sensitive analog signals near the switching components.
The compensation network can be optimized by using the datasheet's recommended values as a starting point and then adjusting the values based on the specific application's requirements. A network analyzer or a Bode plot can be used to measure the loop gain and adjust the compensation network for optimal stability and transient response.
The ISL95870BIRZ can handle input voltages up to 25V, but the maximum recommended input voltage is 20V to ensure reliable operation and to prevent damage to the IC.
Ensure good airflow around the IC, use a heat sink if necessary, and keep the IC away from other heat sources. Monitor the IC's temperature using the thermal monitoring pin (TMP) and adjust the system design accordingly to prevent overheating.
A low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended for the input capacitor. The capacitor should be placed close to the IC's input pins to minimize noise and ensure stable operation.
