XP Power recommends a PCB layout with a large copper area connected to the tab of the device to dissipate heat effectively. A minimum of 1 square inch of copper area is recommended, with multiple vias to the bottom layer to improve thermal conductivity.

To ensure reliable start-up, XP Power recommends a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current. A minimum of 10uF capacitance on the input and a 1kΩ resistor in series with the input capacitor are recommended to prevent voltage spikes during start-up.

The maximum allowed capacitance on the output of the IF2403S is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the converter.

The IF2403S is rated for operation up to 85°C ambient temperature. However, derating is required for temperatures above 70°C. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and thermal management guidelines.
