  • It is recommended to use a 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a thermal pad on the bottom layer, and to keep the thermal pad as large as possible to dissipate heat efficiently. Additionally, it is recommended to use vias to connect the thermal pad to the inner layers to further improve heat dissipation.

  • To handle the high current requirements during startup, it is recommended to use a soft-start circuit or a current limiter to prevent inrush currents from damaging the device. Additionally, ensuring that the input capacitors are properly sized and placed close to the HS2KA can help to reduce the inrush current.

  • The recommended input capacitor type is a low-ESR ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF. The capacitor should be placed as close to the HS2KA as possible to minimize parasitic inductance and ensure stable operation.

  • To ensure the output voltage is stable and accurate, it is recommended to use a high-precision voltage reference, such as a bandgap reference, and to carefully select the output capacitor value and type. Additionally, ensuring that the PCB layout is well-designed and that the output voltage is properly decoupled can help to minimize noise and ensure stable operation.

  • During a short-circuit event, the HS2KA will enter a hiccup mode to prevent damage to the device. The hiccup mode will limit the output current to a safe level, and the device will automatically recover once the short-circuit is removed.
