Tamura provides a recommended PCB layout and land pattern in their application note AN-1205, which can be found on their website. It's essential to follow these guidelines to ensure proper thermal performance and to prevent thermal-related issues.
Tamura recommends using a reflow soldering process with a peak temperature of 240°C to 250°C. The soldering process should be done in a nitrogen atmosphere to prevent oxidation. Additionally, a solder paste with a melting point of 217°C or higher is recommended.
Although the datasheet specifies an operating voltage range of 1.8V to 5.5V, the absolute maximum rating is 6.5V. Exceeding this voltage can cause permanent damage to the device.
The thermal pad should be connected to a solid copper pad on the PCB to ensure good thermal conductivity. The thermal pad should not be connected to a signal or power plane, as this can cause electrical noise and affect the device's performance.
The EPM1205SJ has a human body model (HBM) ESD rating of 2kV and a machine model (MM) ESD rating of 200V. Proper ESD handling and protection measures should be taken during handling and assembly to prevent damage.
