A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane is recommended. Keep the analog and digital signals separate, and use a ferrite bead or a 10-ohm resistor in series with the VCC pin to reduce noise.
Use a thermocouple with a high-quality thermal interface material, and ensure good thermal contact between the thermocouple and the device under test. Also, calibrate the thermocouple and the DS1818R-20+T&R using a precision temperature reference.
The maximum recommended cable length is 10 meters (33 feet) to minimize noise and signal degradation. Use a shielded cable with a twisted pair for the thermocouple wires, and connect the shield to the GND pin of the DS1818R-20+T&R.
Use a metal enclosure for the device, and ensure good grounding of the PCB and the thermocouple. Add EMI filters or ferrite beads to the power supply lines, and use shielded cables for the thermocouple and digital connections.
Power up the device in the following sequence: VCC, then AVCC, and finally the digital signals. This ensures proper initialization and minimizes the risk of latch-up or damage.
