ROHM recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane is also recommended to reduce thermal resistance.
To ensure output voltage stability, it's essential to use a high-quality output capacitor with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a sufficient capacitance value (e.g., 10uF or more). Additionally, the input capacitor should be placed close to the VIN pin to reduce noise and ripple.
Although the recommended input voltage range is 2.5V to 5.5V, the BU7266F-E2 can withstand up to 6.5V for a short duration (less than 1 second) without damage. However, it's essential to ensure that the input voltage does not exceed 6.5V to prevent damage or malfunction.
The BU7266F-E2 is rated for operation up to 105°C, but it's essential to consider the derating of the output current and power dissipation at high temperatures. ROHM recommends reducing the output current by 50% when operating above 85°C to ensure reliable operation.
To troubleshoot issues, start by verifying the input voltage, output voltage, and output current. Check the PCB layout and component placement to ensure they meet the recommended guidelines. Use an oscilloscope to measure the output voltage ripple and noise. If the issue persists, consult the ROHM application notes and technical support resources for further guidance.
