ROHM recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended.
To ensure stable operation, ROHM recommends using an output capacitor with a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a capacitance value between 10uF to 100uF. Additionally, a 1uF to 10uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the output capacitor can help to reduce noise and oscillation.
The maximum allowed voltage on the EN (Enable) pin is 6V, which is the same as the maximum rating for the VCC pin. Applying a voltage higher than 6V may damage the device.
The BU2050F-E2 is rated for operation up to 105°C, but ROHM recommends derating the output current and voltage to ensure reliable operation. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and guidelines.
To troubleshoot oscillation or instability issues, check the PCB layout for proper thermal design, ensure the output capacitor is properly selected, and verify that the input voltage is within the recommended range. Also, check for any noise or ripple on the input voltage and ensure that the device is not overheating.
