ROHM recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended, and the thermal pad should be connected to a ground plane or a dedicated heat sink.
To ensure stable operation with a high-impedance input source, add a capacitor (e.g., 10nF to 100nF) between the input pin and the GND pin to reduce noise and oscillation. Additionally, consider adding a series resistor (e.g., 1kΩ to 10kΩ) to the input pin to limit the input current.
Although the datasheet doesn't specify a maximum voltage for the EN pin, it's recommended to limit the voltage to VCC + 0.3V to prevent damage to the internal circuitry. Typically, this means not exceeding 5.5V for a 5V VCC supply.
While the BD99010EFV-ME2 is rated for operation up to 105°C, it's essential to consider the derating of the maximum power dissipation and the potential for reduced reliability at high temperatures. Consult ROHM's application notes and thermal design guidelines for more information.
To troubleshoot issues with the output voltage regulation, check the input voltage, output load, and feedback resistors. Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range, the output load is within the recommended range, and the feedback resistors are correctly selected. Also, verify that the output capacitor is suitable for the application and meets the recommended specifications.
