ROHM recommends a 2-layer or 4-layer PCB with a thermal relief pattern on the bottom layer to improve heat dissipation. A minimum of 1 oz copper thickness is recommended for the PCB.
To ensure stable operation with a high-ESR output capacitor, add a 10nF to 22nF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the output capacitor to reduce the overall ESR. Additionally, ensure the output capacitor is placed close to the IC to minimize parasitic inductance.
ROHM recommends a 10uF to 22uF X5R or X7R ceramic capacitor with a voltage rating of 10V or higher, placed as close to the VIN pin as possible, to reduce input voltage ripple and noise.
The output voltage can be adjusted by connecting a resistor divider network between the VOUT pin and the GND pin. The recommended resistor values can be calculated using the formula provided in the datasheet, or by using ROHM's online voltage adjustment calculator tool.
The BD95861MUV-E2 is rated for operation up to 105°C ambient temperature. However, to ensure reliable operation, ROHM recommends derating the output current and operating temperature to prevent overheating and reduce the risk of thermal shutdown.
