ROHM recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a large copper area on the PCB to dissipate heat efficiently. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended, and the thermal pad should be connected to a ground plane or a dedicated heat sink.
To ensure output voltage stability, it's essential to use a high-quality output capacitor with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) and a sufficient capacitance value. ROHM recommends a 10uF or larger ceramic capacitor with an ESR of 10mΩ or less.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 18V, ROHM recommends limiting the input voltage to 15V or less to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the internal components.
The BD9409F-E2 is rated for operation up to 105°C, but ROHM recommends derating the output current and input voltage to ensure reliable operation at high temperatures. Consult the datasheet and ROHM's application notes for specific guidelines.
