  • A good PCB layout for the BD1396STU should include a solid ground plane, wide power traces, and a thermal relief pattern under the device to facilitate heat dissipation. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended.

  • To ensure reliable operation at high temperatures, ensure that the device is properly heatsinked, and the maximum junction temperature (Tj) is not exceeded. A thermal interface material (TIM) can be used to improve heat transfer between the device and the heatsink.

  • A ceramic capacitor with a value of 10uF to 22uF is recommended for the input of the BD1396STU. The capacitor should be rated for the input voltage and have a low ESR to minimize voltage ripple.
