Small Signal Bipolar Transistor,
Tip: Data for a part may vary between manufacturers. You can filter for manufacturers on the top of the page next to the part image and part number.
BC857BS-TP by Micro Commercial Components is a Small Signal Bipolar Transistor.
Small Signal Bipolar Transistors are under the broader part category of Transistors.
A transistor is a small semiconductor device used to amplify, control, or create electrical signals. When selecting a transistor, factors such as voltage, current rating, gain, and power dissipation must be considered, with common types. The recommended operating temperature range for the BC857BS-TP is -55°C to 150°C, although the datasheet only specifies a storage temperature range.
To ensure reliability in high-humidity environments, it's recommended to follow proper handling and storage procedures, such as storing the devices in a dry, nitrogen-filled environment, and using moisture-sensitive packaging.
The maximum allowable power dissipation for the BC857BS-TP is dependent on the ambient temperature and the thermal resistance of the device. A safe estimate is to limit the power dissipation to 500 mW at 25°C ambient temperature.
While the BC857BS-TP can be used as a switch, its frequency response is limited to around 100 kHz due to its internal capacitances and resistances. For high-frequency applications, a faster transistor with a higher fT (transition frequency) may be required.
To prevent EOS damage, ensure that the device is operated within its recommended voltage and current ratings, and that it is protected from voltage spikes and surges using transient voltage suppressors or other protection circuits.
