A good layout and PCB design for the AD8630 involves keeping the input and output traces short and away from noise sources, using a solid ground plane, and decoupling the power supply pins with capacitors. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated analog ground plane is recommended.
The choice of gain resistors depends on the desired gain, bandwidth, and noise requirements. A good starting point is to use 1% or 0.1% tolerance resistors with a value between 1 kΩ and 100 kΩ. The datasheet provides a gain resistor calculator to help with the selection.
The AD8630 can drive capacitive loads up to 1 nF without oscillation. However, it's recommended to use a series resistor (Rs) to dampen the output and prevent oscillation. The value of Rs depends on the capacitive load and the desired bandwidth.
To reduce noise and EMI, use a low-noise power supply, decouple the power supply pins with capacitors, and use a shielded enclosure. Additionally, keep the input and output traces away from noise sources, and use a common-mode choke or ferrite bead to filter out high-frequency noise.
The AD8630 has a thermal shutdown feature that activates when the junction temperature exceeds 150°C. This feature helps prevent damage to the device due to overheating.
