  • The recommended power-up sequence is to apply VCC first, followed by AVCC, and then the digital supplies (DVCC and OVCC). This ensures that the analog and digital sections of the device power up correctly.

  • To optimize noise performance, use a low-noise voltage reference, minimize digital noise coupling, and use a quiet analog power supply. Additionally, use a capacitor on the REFIN pin to filter out high-frequency noise.

  • The CAL pin is used for calibration. Connect a 10 kΩ resistor between CAL and AGND to enable calibration. During calibration, the device adjusts its internal offset and gain to ensure accurate conversions.

  • Use external protection diodes or a voltage limiter circuit to prevent overvoltage conditions on the analog input pins. The AD7706 has internal diodes that can handle up to 30 V, but external protection is recommended for higher voltages.

  • The maximum sampling rate of the AD7706 is 153.6 kHz. To achieve this rate, use the fastest clock frequency (4.9152 MHz) and set the conversion mode to 'Fast' (CONVST = 0).
