A 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate analog ground plane is recommended. Keep analog and digital traces separate, and use a common mode filter to reduce noise.
Use a thermocouple or RTD sensor with a high accuracy calibration, and ensure good thermal contact between the sensor and the device under test. Also, use a low-noise, low-impedance signal path to minimize errors.
The maximum sampling rate is 1 MSPS. Higher sampling rates can increase the noise floor, so it's essential to filter the input signal and use a suitable anti-aliasing filter to minimize aliasing effects.
Use the power-down mode when not in use, and optimize the clock frequency and sampling rate for your application. Also, consider using a low-power mode for the ADC and a low-dropout regulator for the power supply.
The recommended input signal range is 0 to 4.096V. Signals outside this range can result in reduced accuracy and increased nonlinearity. Use an input buffer or amplifier to condition the signal if necessary.
