A symmetrical layout with a central ground plane and minimal signal trace length is recommended. Allegro provides a reference layout in their application note AN296070.
The output voltage swing of the A1220LLHLX-T is proportional to the input current. To ensure accurate current sensing, use a voltage reference and an ADC with a sufficient resolution to capture the output voltage swing.
The A1220LLHLX-T has a temperature coefficient of ±0.1% per °C. To minimize temperature-related errors, use a thermistor or thermocouple to monitor the temperature and compensate for its effect on the current measurement.
Use a fuse or a current limiter to protect the A1220LLHLX-T from overcurrent conditions. For overvoltage protection, use a voltage regulator or a TVS diode to clamp the input voltage to a safe level.
Calibrate the A1220LLHLX-T by applying a known current and measuring the output voltage. Use a calibration coefficient to adjust the output voltage to match the input current. Repeat the process for multiple current levels to ensure accuracy across the operating range.
