Texas Instruments provides a recommended PCB layout in the datasheet, but it's also important to follow general guidelines for switching regulator layout, such as keeping the input and output capacitors close to the IC, using a solid ground plane, and minimizing loop areas.
To ensure stability, make sure to follow the recommended component values and layout, and add a compensation network (R3, C3, and R4 in the datasheet) to the feedback loop. Also, ensure that the input and output capacitors meet the recommended specifications.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 40V, it's recommended to derate the input voltage to 30V or less to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the IC.
The TL3844BDR-8 is rated for operation up to 125°C, but it's essential to consider the thermal design and ensure that the IC is properly heat-sinked to prevent overheating. Also, be aware that the IC's performance may degrade at high temperatures.
Use an oscilloscope to monitor the input and output voltages, and check for proper component values and layout. Verify that the feedback loop is properly connected and that the compensation network is correct. Also, check for any signs of overheating or damage to the IC.
