PT3321C Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Texas Instruments recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and to keep the input and output traces as short as possible. Additionally, it's recommended to use a common mode choke and a ferrite bead to filter out high-frequency noise.
-
To ensure the PT3321C operates within its SOA, monitor the input voltage, output current, and junction temperature. Make sure the input voltage does not exceed 18V, output current does not exceed 3.5A, and junction temperature does not exceed 150°C.
-
Texas Instruments recommends using a 10uF to 22uF ceramic or film capacitor with an X7R or X5R dielectric, and a voltage rating of at least 25V. The capacitor should be placed as close as possible to the VIN pin.
-
Check the input voltage, output load, and feedback resistors. Ensure the input voltage is within the recommended range, the output load is within the specified current limit, and the feedback resistors are correctly connected and of the correct value.
-
The PT3321C is rated for operation up to 125°C, but its performance may degrade at high temperatures. If operation above 125°C is required, consider using a heat sink or a thermally-enhanced package. Consult the datasheet and application notes for more information.
