A thermal pad is recommended under the package to improve thermal performance. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness and a thermal relief pattern is recommended. Refer to the onsemi application note AND9173/D for more details.
Ensure that the device is operated within the recommended operating temperature range (-40°C to 150°C). Use a heat sink or thermal interface material to improve heat dissipation. Monitor the device's junction temperature (TJ) to prevent overheating.
Use ESD protection devices such as TVS diodes or ESD arrays on the input and output pins to prevent damage from electrostatic discharge. Follow the onsemi ESD protection guidelines for more information.
Ensure that the input voltage (VIN) is applied before the enable signal (EN) to prevent damage. Use a power sequencing controller or a dedicated power management IC to ensure proper power-up and power-down sequencing.
Use a 10uF to 22uF decoupling capacitor with a voltage rating of 25V or higher, placed as close as possible to the device's power pins. Use a low-ESR capacitor to minimize voltage ripple.
