A good PCB layout for the MCP9700BT-E/TT involves placing the sensor near the thermal source, using a thermal pad or a copper pour to dissipate heat, and minimizing the distance between the sensor and the thermal source.
Calibration involves comparing the sensor's output to a known temperature reference point, and adjusting the offset and gain values accordingly. A calibration procedure can be found in the datasheet or in application notes.
The maximum cable length for the I2C interface depends on the clock frequency and the capacitance of the cable. As a general rule, keep the cable length as short as possible (<10cm) and use a shielded cable to minimize electromagnetic interference.
The MCP9700BT-E/TT has a built-in power-on reset circuit that resets the device when the supply voltage falls below a certain threshold. Brown-out detection can be implemented using an external voltage supervisor or a microcontroller's built-in brown-out detection feature.
A 0.1uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with a 10uF electrolytic capacitor is recommended for power supply decoupling. This helps to filter out noise and ensure stable operation.
