Microchip recommends a thermal pad on the bottom of the package, connected to a copper plane on the PCB to dissipate heat. A minimum of 2oz copper thickness is recommended. Additionally, vias should be placed under the thermal pad to connect to the copper plane.
To ensure reliable operation at high temperatures, it is essential to follow proper PCB design and layout guidelines, including thermal management, and to operate the device within its specified temperature range. Additionally, consider using a thermally conductive material, such as a heat sink, to dissipate heat.
The maximum allowed voltage on the input pins is 6V, which is the absolute maximum rating. However, for normal operation, the input voltage should be within the recommended operating range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
