A good PCB layout for the LTC6911 involves keeping the input and output traces short and away from each other, using a solid ground plane, and placing bypass capacitors close to the device. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated ground plane is recommended. Refer to the Analog Devices application note AN136 for more details.
To ensure stability, make sure to follow the recommended component values and PCB layout guidelines. Also, ensure that the input and output capacitors are of high quality and have low ESR. However, it's recommended to derate the power dissipation based on the ambient temperature and the thermal resistance of the package.
While the LTC6911 can be used as a voltage regulator, it's not the most suitable device for this application. The LTC6911 is primarily designed as a voltage reference, and its output current capability is limited to 10mA. If you need a voltage regulator, consider using a dedicated voltage regulator IC like the ADP3333 or the LT1965.
The output voltage tolerance of the LTC6911 is specified as ±0.5% over the operating temperature range. To calculate the output voltage tolerance, multiply the nominal output voltage (e.g., 2.5V) by the tolerance percentage (0.5%). For example, the output voltage tolerance would be ±12.5mV for a 2.5V output voltage.
