A good PCB layout for the LMT86LPM should include a solid ground plane, a small thermal pad, and a minimal number of thermal vias to reduce thermal resistance. TI provides a recommended PCB layout in the datasheet.
To ensure accurate temperature measurements, it's essential to follow proper PCB layout guidelines, minimize thermal gradients, and calibrate the device using the built-in calibration circuitry. Additionally, consider using a thermocouple or other temperature reference for calibration.
The maximum allowed voltage on the VDD pin is 5.5V. Exceeding this voltage can damage the device. It's recommended to use a voltage regulator or a voltage limiter to ensure the voltage stays within the specified range.
The LMT86LPM is rated for operation up to 150°C. However, the device's accuracy and reliability may degrade at high temperatures. It's essential to consider the device's thermal characteristics and ensure proper heat sinking and thermal management in high-temperature applications.
The LMT86LPM can be interfaced with a microcontroller using a standard I2C or SMBus interface. Ensure that the microcontroller's I2C or SMBus clock frequency is within the specified range (up to 400 kHz) and that the device is properly addressed and configured.
