The maximum input voltage that can be applied to the LM7805ACT is 35V, but it's recommended to keep it below 25V for reliable operation.

Use a transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diode or a zener diode at the input to protect the LM7805ACT from voltage transients. You can also add a series resistor and capacitor to filter out noise and transients.
